Hi and I hope someone can help.

I purchased a brand new Colt Quartz 2 around 4 weeks ago and all was fine until yesterday when the date did not change at midnight

I waited again today and still no change but the date moved after around 4 minutes passed midnight. The time keeping itself has been perfect. I would be grateful if someone could help out with this issue as the watch is under warranty :(

Not completely clear on the problem......

If you are saying that it is changing at 12:04 rather than 12:00, that's slightly unusual for a quartz, but not really a problem.

If you are saying that it missed a day of changing then that is a problem and it needs to go to the AD. BUT, don't forget that April only had 30 days so you needed to adjust the date on Friday to the 1st otherwise you will be a day behind - and that might be your problem!

Hello Roffensian,

I'm quite sure it had missed a day as you mentioned above, as I showed the 1st of May when it should of shown the 2nd. Well I tried manual winding the watch hands until the dates changed just to make sure they moved and I also waited for the date to change at midnight, and it changed after 12am  Well I never payed attention to when the date changes as I always thought that they changed dead on 12 midnight.

Thank you

But did you adjust it for the fact that there are only 30 days in April????

If not then on May 1st it showed the 31st and on the 2nd it showed the 1st - nothing wrong with the watch.

The fact that it changed at 12:04 instead of 12:00 is not a problem.

Thank you Roffensian and how stupid of me not to realise that
So what would you say is a normal time gap for the date to change if not at midnight.

And if this is normal its pointless for me to take it to the Jewellers

Quartz watches tend to be a little better than mechanical at changing, but it's still driving a mechanical wheel which takes time to be moved, so the actual 'clicking' over to the next date is often out by a few minutes - I wouldn't consider anything under 10 to 15 minutes to be a problem.

Theoretically you could take it in and get it adjusted under warranty, but no guarantees that they would get it to exactly 12, and it isn't a fault with the watch.
