Hi,
I am about to attempt to sell my Cosmonaute. It is about 10 years old, in nearly perfect condition, with a nice black leather band. I have been offered $2k for it, American dollars. Is this a fair price? Is it worth more, or less than 2k? I appreciate any opinions. Thanks.

That seems slightly low. I paid $3,000 for a display back version a year ago, and while those are more expensive than the normal ones, $2K is maybe $200 - $400 low. Of course if it doesn't have box or papers, and needs a service then the value does come closer to $2,000.

Imo $2000.00 is a bit low for a Cosmo in good condition. I would think $2500-$2800.00 would be more in line as these are the prices usually seen on ebay auctions. There is a 1995 Cosmo right now on Chrono 24 for $2568.00.

Ok, so it does not have any box or papers, just a Breitling repair soft case and cleaning cloth. The place I'm consigning it at is giving me 2k if it sells, and they're replacing the crystal, so it seems fair I guess. Do you think I could do better if I sold it on chrono or ebay, even though I don't have the box and papers?

Well of course the place you are consigning it to is taking their cut out of your profits so they are betting that it is worth more than $2000.00. Is there a problem with the crystal? I thought it was in good condition?

Yep.

I assume that there is some service history, so if you know what it is that will help. I would try and get the crystal replaced first - $100 or so max and then put it on the Bay. Only problem that you might run into is finding someone to replace the crystal without a full service - which you won't get your money back on, but maybe the person who was going to consign it will help?
