Bought this watch back in 1988 at an AD in Hong Kong for about $850. It has ran great over the years, never had a need for service except a battery change ever 3 years or so. Lately, (6 months) I noticed the hands stop worrking whenever I leave the watch "parked" for a few days. (Don't wear it every day, only when working/flying) The digital movement seem to work okay and to keep time. Wondering if the little electric motor running the analog hands are just about worn out? If so, how much to fix/replace? Have not contacted the factory or a dealer yet, thought I would get some background info in this fine board first in case the above is a common promblem. Not sure how much money I want to spend on a 21 year watch....After the first $500.00 to fix the motor, something else may happen next year and here is another $.xxx.xx... ![]() Thoughts..? Advice..? Thanks in advance. |

It does sound to me like it's time for a trip back to Breitling. I think you've 2 choices 1. Pay $500 (?) for a service which may well include Breitling fitting a new SuperQuartz movement as they no longer have parts for the old B56 movement which was last fitted to the Aerospace about 15 years ago. You get a 12 month warranty after a service and there's no reason to expect other components to die. 2. Get what you can for it on eBay and put it towards a new Aerospace (or whatever). |

Okay and thanks Mr. Sharkmouth. The $500.00 I mentioned was just a guess and in the meantime I went to the Breitling web site and their PDF price list :http://www.breitling.com/multimedia/docs/2009/03/sav-1219.pdf Looks like a complete overhauls is $280.00 if I read it right: QUARTZ/MULTIFUNCTION QUARTZ WATCH 80.– 280 (Assuming my old 80360 is classified as quartz/multifunction quartz...?) Quote: 2. Get what you can for it on eBay and put it towards a new Aerospace (or whatever). Never thought of that..Wonder what kind of money I could get for it...? (Surfed ebay, but did not find a similar watch) Thanks again for feed back ![]() |

Call me Sharky, Mr.Sharkmouth's my dad! ![]() I almost bought a "Navitimer" Aerospace last month but thought it slightly over valued (at over £450) considering the condition so bid on it. But our fellow forum member Sonyman bought it. I would say around £500 for a watch in good condition for its age on a bracelet would be a good price for the buyer. http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8898 |

Quote: Call me Sharky, Mr.Sharkmouth's my dad! Aye, my mistake, got you two mixed up... ![]() Roger on the price (450 to 500 pounds) My Navitimer/Aerospace does not have a bracelet, but rather a leather band...(Not a Breitling band either.. ![]() Will check on the $280.00 price for a complete overhaul and if indeed that is the right price for a complete overhaul, then it is well worth the dough and I will have it done. (Will probably give the Breitling techs a heart failure when they see the $29.95 look-alike leather band.. ![]() |
