Post subject:  Breitling hat/cap questions
I did not get a hat when I bought my Breitling but, since it seems like I will always have a couple of Breitlings :D , I thought I'd track one down. Can someone tell me what variations there are? Seems like I've seen blue, black and tan and ones with "Breitling" across the front and others with wings. Are there a lot of fakes on Ebay? How can I spot the fakes? I'd like a black or tan hat but it seems like all the ones that I'm pretty sure are legitimate are blue.

TIA for answers to my questions and any other info that might be useful in my search.

Well there's at least 12 types that i know of, thats how many i have, though two were pre-production prototypes (i don't know if they made them available later)
Genuine ones include

Blue, Breitling in capital letters , two wings logos on the peak.

Black, Breitling in capital letters, one wings logo on the peak.

Green, Breitling in capital letters, one wings logo on the peak.

Beige, Breitling in capital letters, one wings logo on the peak.

Blue with a yellow peak.

Brown/coral with big wings logo on front.

Black with big wings logo on front.

Blue with big wings logo on front, itallic writing on side.

Blue with big wings logo on front, script on side.

Blue with big wings logo on front, script on side and green under the peak.

Blue with big wings logo on front, yellow peak (blue eagles)

Blue with big wings logo on front, green under peak (blue eagles)

Could we get a group shot of all these as I have thought about starting to put myself a little collection together! As of now i have the newest black one and the one right before the black, same style and everything just blue (my favorite)

Fakes have metal eyelets in the vent holes whereas the originals have stitched holes.

Also the fakes don't have a branded adjuster at the back - although not ALL of the originals do either, mostly the early ones without this I think.

The quality is of course the giveaway - a fake next to the genuine article is like a shapeless bit of cheap cloth.
