Post subject:  Questions re: new Navi World

I FINALLY received my Navitimer World this weekend, and I am absolutely in love with it! Took it to the AD first thing this morning to have it sized, and I've been wearing it (and staring at it) all day.

Which leads me to a couple of questions. It strikes me as being a lot "louder" than my Colt GMT. When wearing my Colt, I certainly notice a little bit of noise if I move my wrist around. My guess is that I am hearing the winding rotor. With the Colt, I can hear it spin around. With the Navi World though, there almost seems to be a "zipper" sound that accompanies it. Is that normal?

I've also noticed that the ticking is much louder with the Navi World, but I'm assuming that the much larger case may have something to do with the amplification.

Obviously this watch is a lot different than my Colt, and perhaps I'm just being paranoid and simply have to get used to certain things. But on flip side, considering the problems that I had with my Colt when I first bought it, one can never be too cautious.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Best,
Keith

The louder noise is not so much to do with the case : it's more to do with the movement. The Navi World is Valjoux 7750 based, while the Colt GMT isn't. The 7750 is renowned for being quite noisy...... but that's all part of the joy of ownership!

There's plenty of other threads on here regarding the noise of the 7750 based movements so rest assured it is all perfectly normal.

kstone,

Driver is correct. This is part of the fun with the navi world, nothing to worry about. 8)

My SA has the 7750. I actually like to shake it a little every now and then just to hear it "talk back", but I am a weirdo. :lingsrock:

Everytime my World or Evo (yes I know its not called that anymore but I bought an EVO... so its an EVO to me!), wakes up and does its little wrist dance, I get a cheesy little grin on my face and remember why I love mechanicals!

And when I meantion it, my wife looks at me with a look of ... my honey the moron. :)
