Post subject: | Windrider Chronomat Evolution Date changes Early |
Hello! I am new to this forum. My father recently passed (3/20/2009) and he left me his favorite watch. a Breitling Chronomat Evolution. I noticed that the date change happens at 9:30pm - 9:45pm on the watch. I don't think this is the way the date is supposed to function. Is it out of sync? What time is it supposed to change over to the new date? Will I have to send this to Breitling for repair? Is there anything I can do to fix it? How much does this kind of repair cost? I am also thinking about sending the watch in for a full service and cleaning/polishing. I cannot risk any damage to the watch because it has a deep sentimental value to me. Do you recommend skipping the Authorized Dealer and sending it straight to Breitling USA? What kind of experiences can you share about BUSA that can ease my fears? Thanks! Mike |

Mike Hi, welcome aboard and sorry to hear about your loss. It's quite normal for the B13 in the Chronomat to start to change the date slightly before (or after) midnight, BUT 9.30 to 9.45 is definitely way too early. It's certainly not something you can fix yourself so I'd recommend sending it to BUSA. If you are combining the repair with a service (which would make sense) I'd suggest sending it direct to BUSA, BUT ONLY if you can insure it adequately. Give them a call first and they'll tell you everything you need to do in terms of packaging, etc. I tend to miss out the AD myself as I don't always trust them to be that careful with watches. Some I have seen behave in quite a blazé way with people's watches. In terms of cost I'm guessing somewhere around the $400 mark all in, but again a call to BUSA will tell you all you need to know as they'll give you a ball-park quote if you ask for one. For BUSA's number go to www.Breitling.com and follow the links. Hope this helps. |

I suggest you see your AD - the warranty shall cover that fix. |
