Post subject: | What voids your warranty? |
Hi guys, I've seen plenty of threads and posts about changing bezels, rider tabs and straps &c. I was wondering whether any of this actually voids the warranty on a new Breitling? Presumably it's pretty hard to make changes without leaving any evidence (minor scratches or damaged screw heads), even if you change it back, so would Breitling refuse to do free work on a watch in the first two years if they could tell you'd tampered with its exterior? Obviously opening the actual case is a different matter (you'd have to be an expert or a lunatic) but does exterior fiddling void your warranty? Thanks for your help. |

If you remove the bezel and put an aftermarket bezel with diamonds in it and send it to Breitling they will void the 2yr warranty. If you use the correct screw driver you can easily remove the bezel without scratching it. Im assuming your concern is that if you need service you will put the orig bezel back on and not let them see the one with diamonds. Even if you do scratch it a bit it will not be a problem. I have sent many breitlings for service and I removed the bezels quite a few times. Either way I would highly suggest getting an aftermarket bezel. You can find them anywhere; look for one that has the riders. IDK which watch you have but if it is a chronomat the riders are not attached so you can still use them on the aftermarket bezel if you like that look. The nice thing is that if you do scratch the watch up a bit Breitling polishes the case and bracelet so it comes back like new ![]() |

Thanks recon4040 - I guess I was just worried that if, after replacing the bezel or tabs etc, if Breitling suspected that you'd changed anything (because the screws were scuffed or something), they'd charge you for a service. It's all hypothetical but I was interested in how they react to such things. Thanks again. |

They wont give you a problem if there are minor scratches on the bezel. I hope you do it and dont get any scratches but if you do they will be way too small to notice. Just take ur time!!! As I mentioned before if they did question you about it you have no knowledge of how or why the scratches were there, simply that it must be normal ed wear and tear!!! Good Luck |
