Hi.
I have been lurking about for some time to gather info about Breitling watches.

Since starting in a new job about six months ago I have been looking at Breitlings and have finally decided on a black dial Superocean.
I have also fallen in love with the black ocean racer strap but am curious about the durability of the strap.

Since I live in Denmark the pricetag for a OR strap is about $430 so naturally I wonder what kind of lifespan I can expect (I plan to wear the watch on a daily basis). Do any of you guys have some input you would like to share?

Of course I could just get the standard PRO II bracelet instead, but I think the OR is very cool - especially after seeing some photos recently with the Superocean/OR combo.

Thanks in advance :)

Peter, Denmark

Nothing is quite as cool as the Pro II ;)

Durability is tough as it's only been around for a year or so.

My wife has one on her SOH 38 and wears it probably about 3 days a week. It still looks as good as new after about 11 months although the deployant gets the usual surface scratches.

Hello Peter,

Durability may be tough as said, but I have had no signs of wear on mine. I've had that more or less since they released them and it has been through it's fair share of salt water and sun.

It's also worth noting that the price of the OR includes the deployant which is the expensive part. That should last the lifetime of the watch so you'll only ever need to replace the rubber part, which is available separately and MUCH cheaper.

Peter,

I've had mine for about a year. I wore it every day over the summer giving it no special care or cleaning, and it shows little signs of wear. The clasp is a scratch magnet at my grueling desk job, but that's no different than any other bracelet. Those can be polished out if needed.

I know the cost is a little silly, but I've heard of very few people who get it and then regret it.

Good luck
