I have an 18K gold filled Breitling Navitimer (806) purchased by my father from Wakmann Watch company, in December 1956 through the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. The watch was sent this week to Horological Services, Boyertown, PA for a complete service at the recommendation of Breitling USA. I am struggling over the price of an authentic strap or bracelet for the watch. Spending $900 to $1900 for this accessory over the price of Horological Services is tough. Is there an aftermarket strap or bracelet for $100 to $300 that would suffice until I can justify the expense and purchase the authorized accessory? $900 to $1900 would buy a lot of chrome for my Harley!

There never was an 'official' strap for your 806 - they were all aftermarket anyway. Take a look at a Breitling OEM strap - leather is reasonable, although the deployant clasp will put it outside of your $300 range a tang will be well within (though deployant is much more comfortable in my opinion).

Who quoted you $1,900 - are you talking about a modern Navitimer bracelet?? If so that won't fit anyway.

Thanks for your help. The $1900 quote was for a modern Navitimer bracelet. Thank you for pointing out that the bracelet wouldn't fit my vintage Navitimer. I'll keep my looking for an OEM strap. I agree that the deployment buckle is more comfortable.

Design your own here http://www.abp-paris.com/watchbands_creations_watchstraps.php?rid=7&cid=1

I think Driver8 has had one made here (or maybe was planning to).

Thanks for the help. I looked at the site you recommended and found it helpful. I'm like an expectant Dad waiting for his wife to deliver. Can't wait to see my Navitimer when it gets back from Horological Services in PA. My Dad was an aviator for over 50 years and wore the Breitling every day. Out of respect for him, I sent the watch to be rebuilt and put in "new" condition. I hope to pass it on to my Grandson.

Nice to know it's in good hands and will be treasured for many years.

I have two straps from them, they really are great, and I know Altair is also happy with his.
