Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the serial number A2422C2 is a genuine Navitimer World serial number?

The serial numbers I see for these watches are usually A24322 or K24322. I have referred to the serial number section on this website, but it doesn't appear to throw any light on the subject. I have also searched the internet for the unusual serial number, but all the internet pages appear to be in Russian with this serial number.

I haven't yet purchased the watch, but it appears to be genuine in every way, it's just that I can't find any information as to why this watch has a different serial number. The country of origin on the warranty booklet is Italy.

Many thanks,

Alan

Ref# is A2432212, it's usually just A24322.
Behind it it's /xxxx with one letter and three numbers which indicate the dial color.
The only one is with "C" is A2432212/C651 which is blue dial.
Post some photos to determine it's authenticity.

I don't have a photograph at present, unfortunately.

It can be only A2432212/B726 which is black dial and 441X indicate that it's on the black tang type leather strap.
Strap or bracelet ref# doesn't come together with the watch ref#.

If it's missing the number 3 in the middle of the "24" and "22", then it's not a genuine serial number. The letter represents the metal (in this "A" which is Staineless Steel) the first 2 numbers (24) is the calibre (in this case the B24 calibre). The missing 3 (if it was there) would say it's a chronometer. Earlier models have a "0" instead which denotes non-chronometer, but the Navi Worlds are all chronometer rated, hence the fact that the 3 should be there. The last 2 digits are model specific.

So, if your serial is missing the "3" and it's on a Navi World, then the watch is fake. Take some pics, post them up and then we can give you a definitive answer anyway.

Thanks for all your help, which is much appreciated.

Fate intervened, and the watch sold before I could get all of the information needed to make a decision.

It's possible it was a genuine Breitling, and that the person who supplied me with the number merely made a mistake when they wrote it down for me, but since I found the number they wrote on Russian and Japanese websites, it's pretty likely it was a fake.

Thanks again for all your assistance.

Best wishes.

Alan

Possibly, but without pics we'll now never know.

As you say, it looks like fate intervened.
