I just called one of the 4 Breitling dealers in Leeds to ask about regulaing my chronomat,very helpful with there advice at first!,but then when i was asked did i purchase the watch from them{i didn't,bought secondhand 2 years ago}they were no longer interested in regulating it,but said they would check it out and tell me what i already know!that it's running 25+mins in 12 hours!,and would rather me have them send it away for a full Breitling service or £500 as quoted!,now thats what i call great service{NOT}if it can be regulated then do just that.
i'll go to my local watch guy in Bradford at Oxtobys they have been in the business since 1894 i'm sure he can regulate the watch.

As I said in your other thread, I seriously doubt that a watch that runs nearly 30 minutes fast can be fixed by regulating. It's indicative of a more serious problem and my advice would be the same as theirs - get it investigated and serviced.

It could be magnetised if it's running at that kind of a rate.

But yes, you should definitely get it looked at by Breitling.

Sorry, but why the blind fixation on sending it to Breitling before trying the simple things first?. Degauss and then check regulation.
So what if it doesn't fix it? It's only cost him a small sum, and the watch doesn't need taking apart. THEN send it to Breitling.

I'll give you an example, my car broke down. It was towed to the main dealer who plugged his laptop into it. "Oh, sorry Mr Dart, the fuel pump ECU has packed up, we get a lot of these. Sorry but it's fairly expensive - £794 including labour and VAT, shall I go ahead with it". "Er..no, I'll have to hold fire on that for the moment". I got the car picked up by the local independent and explained the situation. "We'll have a look at it for you Mr Dart but can't promise anything as we don't have the full diagnostics gear". Phone call later - Mr Dart?, it's sorted!. The connector was a bit dodgy, we sprayed some WD40 in it and greased it up - it's fine again. We do this all the time on lots of cars". For £50. :wink:

Now I'm not for one moment suggesting here that Breitling would pull the wool over anybodys eye, no sir. All i'm saying is big companies tend to work within a set framework - fixed menu pricing, etc. But there are many skilled, reputable independents who can afford to spend a little extra tinkering time and still save the customer money, meantime the main dealer is hog-tied with menu pricing at £100/hr.

Simple, I read (and replied to ) the OP's other thread first - the one that said the watch needed servicing.

If this was a brand new watch then for sure, get it demagnetised and regulated - if it needs a service anywya, get it checked out.
