I am thinking of sending in the bezel and band of my Colt II to have some gold plating done to really set it off. The question is can I remove the crown without sending the watch in to have this professionally done or does this need to be done in a pressure tank? Thanks for the help. New Owner. |

Firstly, my personal advice would be to not consider getting any of it plated. Gold plate (which is what any aftermarket work would be) is very thin and will wear off over time far more easily than the rolled gold of an OEM two-tone Breitling Bracelet and the solid gold of an OEM Breitling bezel. Your watch would look both a mess and most likely like a fake in a few years. However, if you really REALLY want to go ahead with it, I can guarantee that any part that was going to be plated would need to be removed from the watch beforehand. The crown is not something I'd recommend attempting to remove yourself and should only be done my a qualified watchmaker as the winding stem is quite fragile if you don't know what you're doing. My advice would be to leave your Colt II and just enjoy it as it is, or perhaps save up and trade your Colt II in for a proper two-tone Breitling model. That would be a much better option in the long run. |

Thanks for the comments guys. I think I'll keep it as is and see if I can find a gold bezel and band that will fit the Colt II. Any recommendations by the pros would be appreciated. Thanks again. Patrick ![]() |

Thanks again. Patrick ![]() I think you'll struggle to find any OEM gold parts that will fit the Colt II as it was never available as a TT model, and parts are rarely interchangeable between models. If you want something TT, I think you'll have to trade the Colt in against something else. ![]() |

As far as i know the crown can only be removed by Breitling itself. |
