hello
sorry for the very basic question but my father in law bought a transocean unitime for christmas, the lady in the shop apparently explained everything to him but i have found the instructions booklet proovided with the watch to be horrendously lacking for such an expensive time piece. i have set it all up for him and tried to explain the gmt functionality but the instructions dont seem to explain the red sun icon next to some of the city names on the outer dial. i am assuming this is for DST as when we were checking the time for sydney it was an hour out except when we put it on the red sun.

my question\s is\are does the red sun indicate the DST for the city as some dont have it so i again assume they dont have an idea about DST but also how are you to know when chnging the dial to say sydney that they are in a DST scenario so should be pointing at the red sun or at the city name itself?

does that make any sense? appologies if not but first time ive seen such a watch and i was several bottles of bucks fizz in on xmas day when trying to se it up for him :D

I don't know the answer but I am sure someone will, your question sounds interesting.

Yes, when a city is in DST, use the red sun instead of the city name to read its local time. For example, the below image is 10:09 DST in London.
