Post subject: | Best Method to keep clean / polished |
Hey there! I recently took ownership of a brilliant white dial, silver sub dial with Arabic numerals Chronomat Evolution and basically, couldn't be happier!!! The only question I have though, is can anyone offer any advice on the best method of keeping it clean and retaining that highly "polished" finish? I do wear this as a everyday watch and after only a few weeks on the wrist, the normal body oils and use are taking their toll on the brilliant finish (which was one of the reasons I bought it in the first place). Are there any "trick's" you know of to clean the watch and bracelet, or are there any specific "polishing cloth's" that you could reccomend? Regards dan_t[/img] |

Cape cods to remove minor scratches and swirls etc. These have been discussed quite a few times, if you do a quick search it is bound to yield quite a few threads. I use nano-fiber to keep the smudges/fingerprints off. ![]() That said, congrats on the piece and ![]() |

Just don't use the Cap Cods too often (i.e. daily or even weekly) as they are slightly abrasive and they do remove metal from the case. If you used them daily you'd find your watch getting smaller over the years! ![]() Only use them when you need to. Otherwise a quick wash with a mild soap and water, followed by a thorough rinse in fresh water, dry, and then a polish with a nanofibre or just a soft coth should be more than adequate on a regular basis. |

Nice piece - congratulations ![]() Enjoy it! ![]() |

About polishing.... I have tried 3M:s cloths for stainless kitchen-ware (its in their Scotch-brite line) and it works fine on my Aerospace. They are not abrasive in any way so they wont take away small scratches. Anyone else tried them? Btw: is Cape Cods the same as Duraglit? Because I have been useing Duraglit on my fishing-baits with a very shiny result. Anybody tried it on watches? //Mattias |

It's been a long time since I saw Duraglit (never seen it here in Canada), but isn't it fairly abrasive? |

Quote: It's been a long time since I saw Duraglit (never seen it here in Canada), but isn't it fairly abrasive? Yes, its fairly abrasive. For my fishing-lures i go from "steel-wool" (is it called that?), to Duraglit. It takes away all scratches and they get very shiny. //Mattias |
