I am looking at a 14 year old chronomat with a leather band and certificates and what to get an idea on how much the going rate is for it. It is a two tone with a green dial. The watch seems to be in very good condition. I'm also new to breitling so should I be careful about fakes even with the certificates? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum, A 14 year old Chronomat would not have a certificate as they were introduced around 2000, should come with a white warranty book though. Model number should be B130??. How about a photo to get an idea of the value ? Steve

Be sure to check serial numbers, make sure they match etc... The usual fake check stuff. Then inquire about a service record. If it has not been serviced in the last 5 years it will need a full one. That's $500. Better pics will give you a better idea of the kind of shape it is in. Do not trust them that it is near perfect (or whatever he said). In good shape, assume no recent service, proper documentation that it is genuine (including good pics of the dial for bnewbie and sharkmouth to check on the replica ID forum here). Then $1000-1200 is fair, not great, but fair. I would offer $1k if I had to service it. Says something about the condition it was kept in. IMHO.
