My Breitling Super Avenger II is 8 months old, received as a gift as I would not purchase such a luxury at this time in my life (HS counselor, young family). Well this weekend my watch stopped, as it always does when not worn for a couple of days, its hands at the 7:20 mark, date 19. Well I wound it to get it going, then I turned the dials forward to advance the date. The date wheel got stuck between the 19 and 20, right in the middle. No matter how much I wound the time forward the date would no longer move. I then tried the quick date change, to no avail, actually felt a little tension on it, so I stopped. Took it in to Tourneau for service, and they quickly determinedthat the date wheel would have to be replaced. They also informed me that the only way this would have happened would have been if there was impact to the watch (which there wasn’t) or if I tried to change the time between 8pm and 3am, (which again time had stopped at 7:20). Tourneau informed me that they would be sending it to Breitling, as it is under warranty, and that they would then determine if they will fix under warranty or not, based on their findings if the watch had an impact or change of date was adjusted during the times to avoid. I asked the Tourneau rep what her experienced has been with Breitling warranty service, and to my dismay she stated that, “…more than likely they will determine that one of the two things occurred, voiding the warranty and charging me for any repairs if I agree to repair it…” Up to $700!!! Sorry for the long story. Has anyone had a similar experience? |

I'm with Tourneau. 99%+ of broken date wheels are caused by using the quick set date in the danger zone so not likely that Breitling will cover any need warranty. Damage may have been done prior to the last time, it just showed up this time because of the location of the damaged tooth / teeth on the date wheel relative to the running train. |

Thanks for the response. I may very well be in the less than 1% group as I have always in the months that I have had this watch, only adjusted time and date on times other than between 8-4, pm or am...even if it meant winding the watch to get it going and waiting for it to be outside of those hours (wearing the watch with the wrong time at time...) But I am sure they will go with their expertise rather than my word. I'm pretty bummed and disappointed, and I got it as a gift! Imagine if I would have payed the retail of this watch?!...$6000+ (including taxes)!!! I probably would have... |

Update!!! About a week ago I checked the status of my Super Avenger II, took it in to Tourneau for service (date wheel stuck), hoping that Breitling warranty would cover it. IT DID!!! Was so elated to see nothing but ZEROS next to each category estimates. Picked it up today and happy to report that it is working accordingly. |

Another question. Hope I can get some rest assurance that Breitling warranty service was done properly. Before the date wheel got stuck on my SA II the date would literally change at exactly midnight...yes I actually did observe it doing it. Date change movement would start at about 11ish and then hermit finally made it to 12am, switch. Now, after I received it back from Breitling, through Tourneau, the date makes its complete change at 12:03. Is this normal? |

Happy to hear this worked out well for you. I guess I can honestly say that I can't tell you what time my watches go over to the new date. I haven't been awake at midnight for awhile I guess. Enjoy your Super Avenger !!! Kevin |
