Hey all, First time poster. I recently--and unfortunately--dropped my Blackbird A44359 from about four feet onto a hard tile floor. A lume marker came loose and is floating around in the case and there's also a dent on one of the rider tabs, although it is barely noticeable. I unscrewed the bezel, thinking I might be able to get the crystal off, but quickly realized I was out of my depth. Unfortunately I messed up several of the screws in the process (insult to injury!). Anyhow, I'm looking for a reliable service center that won't over-charge for what is a relatively minor repair job (lume marker put back in, new bezel screws, maybe new rider tab). I know that this site has a connection with Govberg, but I did notice that Govberg's Yelp reviews aren't so good. Yelp can be pretty tough as many people seem to want to write negative reviews and not spend the time to write positive ones, so I'm not fully opposed to Govberg, but I'd also like to look around, get some feedback or suggestions. I don't really have a good watch repair shop nearby as I live in rural NH, USA. Thanks! |

I would send to BUSA, it will need a service anyway as the movement is going to have to come out of the case, and who knows what other damage has been done to jewels, pinions, etc. Welcome to BreitlingSource. |

OK, I got back the BUSA quote. I am very unhappy with what they are asking: $1432 to fix a lume marker!!!! Well, that isn't quite right - they want to do a full service ($850), and also replace the entire dial and markers--which is, for some reason, a separate cost to the service ($510), and then a single rider tap is $72. Anyhow, I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if they'll just do the marker and not the service, which I don't think it needs - it was done four years ago - and seems to me rather exploitive on their part, like a car mechanic who adds on expensive "necessary" parts. If they say they can't I'll just have them ship it back and send it to Govberg. There is no way I'm spending $1432 for what is really only a lume marker. |

Quote seems about right. Dials are replaced not fixed and you won't get Breitling to agree to opening up the watch without also servicing it (not should they). In this circumstance the watch absolutely needs a service anyway. A hit hard enough to knock something loose on the dial is also highly likely to have bent pinions, cracked jewels and done many other things to the movement. It's due a service in 12 months or so anyway if it is four years since the last one. |
