Post subject:  Aerospace battery change question

The display on my Aerospace was flashing for a bit this morning. It's stopped flashing and is normal now but I assume that's the first sign of a failing battery.

Case date-stamp = 2610 so manufactured c.June 2010. Bought from AD Jan 2013. Red battery replacement sticker said Sep 2012.

I therefore assume that the battery was replaced pre-sale, as it's 3 yrs from sale but 6 yrs from manufacture.

Should I therefore send it off for an 'Overhaul' service rather than a 'Maintenance' service, since it's already had one battery change and is coming up to 6 yrs old? Or should I just post it off to BUK and let them decide?!

Thanks for any advice.

Personally I'd be tempted to give BUK a call first. They're very helpful and they may have a record of it being in before (assuming it did indeed have a battery change in 2012, and that the change was done at Breitling of course). They will be able to advise on the best course of action.

My understanding of the sticker is that it's a 'change the battery at this time if the watch hasn't been sold' indicator, not evidence the battery was ever changed. Either way, I would let BUK make the call about why it needs rather than potentially pay more than you need to.

Having never owned a quartz Breitling I must confess I didn't know that.

I agree that it's exactly that - a scheduled battery-change sticker. (In my case I assume that it was changed, not because of the sticker, but because it wouldn't have lasted six years.)

That assumption further assumes that it didn't spend a significant portion of those six years with the crown pulled out in a showcase / vault, which may be a dangerous assumption.

Yes good point Roff. Anyway I'll send it off and let them decide as advised. Thanks all.
