Post subject: | New watch .. Please help ! |
Hello fellow Breitling owners , I purchased my first Breitling Navitimer World a couple weeks ago and just have a couple questions I need answered to that I can stop worrying. I searched but didn't find any clear answers. First I wear the watch everyday so I assume it's fully wound , however when I turn the crown a quarter turn in the pushed down wind setting it turns a quarter turn or so and then comes to a complete stop ( no apparent resistance ) is this normal because the watch is fully wound already ? From what I read online shouldn't this crown keep spinning ? I am worried that something is wrong. When I first got the watch my OCD took over and I would turn that crown a quarter turn to stop every couple hours. Also is it ok to wind the crown backwards a half turn ? I hear it click when I turn it. Hope you guys can help put me at ease so that I can stop worrying and start enjoying my watch. Everything seems to work on the watch and it keeps good time. Thanks! |

The crown shouldn't spin, there is resistance on a fully wound watch just as with a fully unwound watch, it's just that on a fully wound automatic the mainspring slips in the barrel rather than being tightened. Winding the crown backwards when pushed fully in does nothing except turn the crown stem, does no harm but serves no purpose. Welcome to BreitlingSource. |

Roffensian thank you for the quick response. If I am understanding what you are saying correctly it is fine for the crown to spin a bit and then stop because the watch is fully wound and has a mechanism to protect itself ? Thank you and Best Regards ! |
