Post subject: | Navitimer 01 Warranty Information |
Hi everyone! I'm hoping that someone can help me out. I just purchased a pre-owned Navitimer 01 AB0120 (complete with all paperwork, originally purchased in 2012 from an AD) and would like to send it into Breitling for an overhaul just for my peace of mind. I took the watch to my local AD, along with the warranty booklet, and they told me that it only has a 2 year warranty since that's what's written inside the booklet. The AD told me that only the newer Navitimer 01s with the digital warranties are covered under a 5 year warranty, whereas the older 01s that come with a paper warranty have a 2 year warranty. However, this doesn't seem right because I was under the impression that any Navitimer 01s were given a 5 year warranty since they all featured the new B01 in-house movement. Do you think the AD is just trying to get me to spend $500+ on maintenance? Or is there really a genuine distinction between the paper/digital warranties even though it's the same watch? Any help would be appreciated! Best, Jeff |

I don't agree with what your AD is telling you. It is my understanding that any Breitling watch with an in house movement sold after 1/1/2012 would come with a 5 year warranty. The in house movement was introduced in 2009 and those came with a two year warranty. The electronic warranty card was introduced later and should have no relevance as to whether or not your watch is covered by the five year warranty. BUSA may ask for proof of purchase for the warranty to be honored. In addition, All in house movements are required to have a water resistance test two years after purchase. What effect this would have on the warranty is unknown. Good luck and congratulations on your purchase. |

Breitling cite the water resistance testing as a prerequisite for the 5 year warranty coverage, although I doubt they would enforce it unless there was a water issue. Proof of purchase showing that the watch was originally sold after January 1st 2012 is all that is necessary for the 5 year warranty as 56scooter says. |

I doubt Breitling will do an overhaul on a 3 year old watch just because it is under warranty, for a peace of mind. Unless there is something wrong of course. They will test it and if all working OK ship it back to you. |
