Personally I don't condone opening the case of an expensive watch yourself as they are assembled in very clean dust-free environments, so opening it yourself will compromise that, and may also affect water resistancy if the gasket is in any way deformed (and you don't replace it). However I personally find the "rubber-ball" type of openers to be more than adequate for opening any caskback I've come across thus far. They're also non-damaging to the caseback as there are no hard parts in contact with the case. eBay is a good source for them. Alternatively (and I've found this to work too) you could try wrapping some sticky tape (sticky side out obviously!) around the flat of your hand and using that to twist the caseback open. |
