Hi All, Firstly, great forum! Sorry if this has been questioned previously, however as a new member, first post, and having had a bit of a search, I have not been able to find anyone ask the following question. Late last year picked up a SuperOcean Heritage 44 while travelling throughout Europe. Being somewhat excited as this was my first Breitling, I was a little disappointed when I arrived back home a week later to see that there appears to be polish or foreign material within the crowns ridges and bezel which had discoloured and turned a number of the ridges black. As it was purchased by a AD, I had the piece taken back to the local repair centre for review. They cleaned the Bezel, and replaced the Crown, unfortunately this took around 20 days. I thought this was all good and had the watch for around another 2 weeks, only to notice the time was not being accurately kept. Second round back to the repair centre, and another 30 days later, the watch was returned, and 'repaired'. When asked what the problem was, I was not advised of any specifics, only that it had some components replaced. (Haven't been wearing it over the past few weeks, however have some concern it may now, not be holding more than about 30hrs power following winding - perhaps a main spring issue following whatever work was carried out previously. Not overly happy with the customer service so far in my home country from the repair agents.) As the watch had not really been on my wrist for much of the initial months, I had not needed to set the time or date since the date of purchase. ![]() Regardless - I must say, the 44 is a great sized time piece, and with the Gun Blue finish and classic steel band, it is a striking and very attractive item nevertheless. ![]() ***Getting to the point of the new topic (sorry)*** I have noticed that following the short month which is February, the date had not ticked over to the 1st of March, as many of my other time pieces had (other brands, not mentioned as this is a Breitling Forum). Upon needing to adjust the date, I referred to the manual and was surprised to see that it advised how to change the time/date as per winding the time adjustment only (from what I could understand). It also stated not to do the adjustment during the house of 8pm and 3pm. I found this interesting as: 1. there has been mention during my searching around this - to a moon-phase within the piece. I dont believe this is accurate. 2. In the event the power reserve has discharged completely, then it is uncertain if the watches mechanism is in a AM or PM phase. Is there something which I have missed here, or is the watch perhaps out of phase in terms of month cycle, or is it simply that this model does not automatically adjust to the monthly/date cycle and each month it will require manual, adjustment by winding through a fell 1-4 day period to readjust. Lastly, doing so during any time of the day/night can, will, or wont damage the internals as others have mentioned during my web searching? Thanks all, and sorry for the longgggggggg first post... |

Welcome to BreitlingSource. Very few automatics recognise the number of days in a month, most will assume 31 days in every month and need manual adjustments for months that don't. The danger zone for quick set date is actually 8pm to 3am and using quick set date in that window runs a significant risk of causing damage. |

Hi Roff, and thanks for both the welcome and quick reply. In this case, I'm therefore assuming that the fact the 44 Super doesn't have a date quick set feature means that the 8pm - 3am warning is therefore not relevant to this mech.? |

Correct. You can however advance the date by winding time backwards and forwards between about 10pm and 2am. |
