Post subject:  Possible Moisture in My Avenger

Hi All,

I noticed this afternoon that there was some condensation on the inside of the crystal on my Avenger.

I think there is moisture in the watch. What do you think?

I have had this watch a little over a year and have never noticed condensation under the crystal in the past. At first I thought is was due to temperature shock (being outside in Michigan weather in December). Now, after a few hours of being home the condensation is still there.

I know moisture in the watch is not covered by the warranty. Any ideas on what amount I am looking at cost-wise for BUSA to fix this?

If you are sure the moisture is on the inside, get that thing of to BUSA ASAP.

Money wise. No idea, but at least. A full service so $500+++

It needs to be fixed ASAP, or damage will increase quickly due to rust.

Unless there was a substantial temperature change immediately before you noticed that - hot day / heavily air conditioned environment t for example, then it definitely needs attention. Even if that were the case it should have clearly d within an hour. As supra8903 says it needs urgent attention and until then stories it with some dessicant or in a tub of rice to try and draw some moisture out.

Thank you for the replies. This morning the crystal did not have any condensation under it. However after an hour of wearing the watch the condensation is back.

I started the 'send to BUSA for service' process.

Should I unscrew the crown while I store the watch in rice or will it not matter?

I am really disappointed the water resistance of the watch failed.

Unscrewing the crown will help.

First thing BUSA will do is pressure test the watch to the rated resistance and identify where / if it has failed.

Pushers are not rated to be used underwater (seawold chrono and M2000 SO only i believe)
Most likely thats how moisture got in.

I know about the pushers and water.

I never used the pushers while in water nor after being in water. I always ensured the crown was screwed down before going near any water.

So frustrating. I do appreciate the replies.

Update from BUSA: Leaking through the crystal and all work will be performed under warranty. I am sad that my watch's water resistance failed but very happy BUSA is going to make it all better.

I am amazed at the level of scrutiny they display when evaluating a watch. Reading the condition of the watch makes it appear like I put it through hell! I baby that Avenger!!!

Update: The watch is back from BUSA. They did a really good job and it looks brand new. Everything except shipping to BUSA was covered by warranty.
