Post subject:  Winder Problem

I have a winder that winds my Breitling Navitimer 850 revolutions per day in the clockwise direction. It does not wind the watch at all. When the watch winds down I can flick it with my wrist and it runs for a minute or so. If I slowly rotate the watch clockwise ( or counter clockwise ) it does not wind at all. It seems to take some momentum to get the winding weight to make full revolutions. Is this normal ??? I have three months left in my warranty and wonder if I have a winding problem. The winder I bought keeps the watch at about 45 degrees...... I tried it at 90 degrees and that has no effect when the watch is stopped.... I'd appreciate any ideas ?

That is strange. I would make a trip to the AD and get it looked at under warranty. That many clockwise turns per day, would keep that watch fully wound.

I have seen all three of my watches operate with the back off. None of them is a navitimer, but i can tell you that if you turn them slowly in the winding direction gravity keeps the rotor at the bottom and winds them. I use a winder for all three set to 650 turns per day, and within 24 hours, i can unplug it and they all take more than 36 hours to wind down. The winder holds the watches at about 45 deg. I think something's up with your watch. may need service/lubrication of the movement. I'm guessing that your watch winds in either direction similar to my B2 which does not require any "momentum" to wind.

Yep, sounds like you need to visit your AD. I have a Navitimer and I don't have a problem to wind it in my winder. I wind the watch random directions for 30 min every 3hrs.
