Hello there, first post.

I bought a second hand Breitling Colt A57035 recently. Today I asked for a trade value on it in a different jewellers against a SuperOcean. The girl behind the desk claimed it should have a blue tint from AR coating on the glass, which it does not and also it's missing a date stamp on the bracelet. I returned to the shop of purchase who assure me that it is genuine, I bought it without box or papers.

So..... should this model have the bracelet stamped and should it have the AR blue tint glass? Could the AR coating have been removed through polishing? From what I've read the newer models definitely have both features but does the earlier Colt (1995-2001 manufacture) have these features?

Help required.

Anyone else with the same model got a stamped bracelet and AR blue tint face?

This article http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_spotting_fakes.shtml leads me to think it may come under 'older Breitling' with inconsistencies.

Bob.

Welcome aboard.
It's an older model with single AR coating, so it's normal it doesn't have it on the outside of crystal.
Also, 821A bracelet doesn't have any markings except ref# on the end links.
Sales person doesn't know much about older models

Thanks for the information, however I can't even find a ref# on the end links. There's nothing at all. I think I may take a nip up to Glasgow to the Breitling retailer for a bit of piece of mind.

I think I've found the bracelet stamp. Each end link has 'CQ' stamped on it. Is this correct? I'm assuming it stands for Colt Quartz?

Yes, it is correct, it's older version of 821A.
There are no fakes of this model, but if you have doubts, post a photo in replica section to be sure.
You don't have to go to Glasgow to authenticate it.

As bnewbie already said, sales person doesn't know a lot about older Breitlings... Unfortunately, not uncommon these days. On new collections, sales person would have a point. Everything sounds ok to me. Haven't seen the watch though so before I see pics, I'm going with the info the OP gave.
