Post subject:  Scratched after 24hrs

This is my first post on the forum, unfortunately its due to a problem.
I purchased my first Breitling yesterday, a Colt Chrono.
After less than 24hrs I have managed to mark it, I don't even know how I did it.
My questions are, does anyone have any experience with this watch and does it mark easily, is it possible to sort this easily yourself or is it better getting a professional to do it.
There is one deeper line then some smaller light scratches next to it.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Ouch, that was fast ! Looks like a cut in the metal. Not something you can solve yourself I think.

I never dropped it, I had it on for about 2 hrs and I spent 1.5 hrs admiring it. I honestly haven't got a clue how it happened.

There isn't actually a mark on the 30, it just looks like it on the photo.

It sucks to scratch a new watch for the first time, and that one is a good one. However they are meant to be worn and will take the abuse. If you want to get it fixed it will need to be refinished maybe even a new bezel. It does happen though so don't beat yourself up too bad.

Yeah i think that's too deep to be able to brush out. If it's likely to eat away at you, I'd go to Breitling and ask for their advice. I agree with Matt: might be a new bezel.

Can't polish that one out. Scratch is too deep... If you want it gone, a new bezel is the only thing you can do.

As others have said, that's not an easy polish-out due to the depth, but in answer to your above question - all steel Breitlings are made of 316L steel which is the same grade as 99.9% of all other steel watches in the world. So basically it will be no worse (or better) at resisting scratches than 99.9% of watches out there.

Thanks for your help. I think I'll just have to live with it.

Out of curiosity does anyone know how much a new bezel would cost to get fitted.

Hi Bazg I have this same model watch but the previous generation I have owned it from new since 2002 and I have to say I have absolutely smashed this watch against all sorts of things and I have never marked it in any way. So goodness knows how you managed to do this without knowing? My wife also has a Breitling Callistino bought from the same jeweller at the same time and she knocked out the luminova somehow whilst just in the garden and she said she doesn't know how that happened. I have worn my watch almost every day since I bought it and I still love it. I actually own a Rolex Oyster Date that my wife wears because I have and always will prefer my Breitling over my Rolex any day. So I hope you get as much use and joy out of your watch as I have in mine!
