Good afternoon,
My 4 month old Blackbird is gaining between 8 and 12 seconds in every 24 Hrs, Checked over 4 consecutive days. Will it pay me to do more random tests for a few weeks before an AD visit.
My tests were done using the USNO Master clock.
Any advice welcome.

That's quite a bit outside of COSC spec, and you've owned it for a while (so the old "bedding in" comment won't work!), so I'd say take him in. Should be a nice quick regulation job..... provided your AD isn't like the one I went to!

Alan, my blackbird does the same thing, and it was bought end of July. I thought I'd give it another couple weeks and let it "set in" some more and see what happens since I don't wear it regularly.
Just letting you know yours isn't the only blackbird with this issue...

Thanks for the info. Its a little disapointing that a few of us with quite young time pieces are out of tollerance. Just checked mine again today and it is 10 seconds fast. I know its not mutch and I can live with it, but it should be more within the limits. I shall probably take for a trip next week.

There will be some settling in with new pieces over the first few weeks, but some of these numbers seem a little high - definitely take them back and get them checked if they don't improve.

I'm not aware of a specific Blackbird issue.

Though not a Blackbird my 3 week old Breitling was running 30 seconds a day fast. I took it back to my AD who is also an authorized service center.

A day later it was regulated and they gave me a neat little print out to show how it gains or loses time in different positions, so far observing the instructions I think I am just under a second fast each day

I would recommend you take it in and get it regulated! Tell them how you wear it as well, apparently it is important in how they do the regulating!

The bird was sent off to be regulated today as it was 12 seconds adrift yesterday. It ain't gona fix itself.

This inability to regulate watches at an AD seems to be a trend in the UK. I can't believe that AD's have to send wathces away just to regulate. Especially something like the Blackbord - sure there's a waterproofing issue, but this isn't a 3000m watch.

Yes, I quite agree Roff, The 'AD' said it could take up to six weeks. The place they are sending it is only 300 miles away. Must be sending it via horse post. I shall keep the forum posted.

Six weeks for a less than 10 minute job - disgusting.

It's not even like the machines are that expensive.

I recently asked an AD about servicing mine since it was running about 8 seconds fast and they said at least 6 weeks at BUSA.

I have no problem with that for a sevicing, but to regulate!!!

Reading all these posts really hammers home how lucky I am to had an AD who is also a service center. Mine was regulated and back with me within 24 hours and that was just dropping in, no pre appointment! There is another dealer in town but I think with that one it has to be sent away! The kicker is that the one who offered the better discount was the one I went to in the end as they also throw in an extra years warranty!
I am realizing that AD's like mine are a goldmine!
I think it is ridiculous that a watch has to be sent back just for a simple regulation when any competent watch maker can perform such a task and pressure test!

I specifically went to an AD that was also a Service Centre here in the UK to get my Steelfish, and was told that a regulation would also mean a service (HOW TO THEY WORK THAT OUT?????) and that it'd have to go to BUK. Frankly unbelievable..... which lead me to getting my Breitling Steelfish regulated at a Rolex approved repairer and even though they had to get the Breitling gasket in, it was back on my wrist in 24 hours. The Breitling Repairer-AD apparently couldn't handle the simplest repair task this side of taking a link out of a bracelet!

Got the bird back today, only 2 weeks and not 6 as the AD said.
There was no charge and the watch came back with a free black breitling zip case and cleaning cloth. The case is about the size of a pair of sunglasses, so its quite versitile.
Very pleased with the service especially the cost. Now looking for its brother in the catalogue.
