Post subject:  Am I being pedantic?

Hi all,

I have just received my Chronomat back from a full overhaul from DKSH (Breitling Australia).
Everything appears to be fine, other than the alignment of the bezel.

I hadn't noticed any alignment issues prior to sending in, although I don't have any pic's to verify this.

As you can see from the image, the closest that I can get the bezel to align is about half a click to the left of the top dead centre (12 o'clock). It is actually more noticeable at the 6 o'clock position where you can see the bottom rider tab approximately two thirds past the 6 marker.

Is this actually adjustable, or would you consider it 'within tolerance'?

I think you would have noticed the misalignment before the overhaul if it had already been there. I'm no watchmaker but my common sense tells me that the rider tabs can be adjusted individually. I'm sure some WIS will soon shed some light on this.

Thanks, it's not the rider tabs, but the whole bezel that's out of alignment.
I'm wondering how much, if any, adjustability there is when re applying it after a major service.

From memory the Evo is a 60 click bezel so any off centring of the bezel is going to be a tolerance thing. It may be that the spring isn't quite adjusted properly, or perhaps some dirt in the bezel track. Because the bezel is removable without opening the case I would take it to an AD and have their watchmaker take a look at it.

Thanks Roff. Having just come back from a full overhaul (2days ago) I'd hope there's no dirt in the track.
I think I'm just being fussy, but I'll pop in anyway next week & see what they think. It seems to sit mid-way between the markers rather than lining up with the hour markers.
Just one of those things only nutters like us on this forum would notice.......

It would bug me. Not an unreasonable thing to want sorted given what one pays.

I'd take it back and ask them to sort it out.

I've found the ppl at BAUS really good to deal with. I'd take it back.

In 2008 I bough a Navitimer World which had an alignment problem with the GMT hand. The hand would always be behind from its mark by a small amount. The only reason I noticed this was because I treasure my watches and I pay attention to their detail, as one should do with high end watches in my opinion.

I sent the watch to Breitling as a warranty repair and they didn't kick a fuss at all. The watch was back in 3 weeks with a perfectly aligned GMT hand.

If it bugs you, you should get Breitling and ask them to deliver what they promise in their marketing videos about the high quality of their maintenance service.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one with this infliction then!!!
Good news is that i took it back & within 2 mins they had adjusted the bezel to align once again nicely.

Who doesn't like a happy ending?
