Hi there Just a little question: On the Navitimer Cosmonaute there is a "ring" with numbers from 1:10 to 9:00. What's it for? Many thanks! Phil |

In addition to Rene's link, this link has good examples of using that scale - http://www.ablogtowatch.com/how-to-use- ... lide-rule/ |

Many thanks for the links! This seems to work if you have got that scale on the outer and the inner ring. On the Cosmonaute though, it's only on the inner... that confuses me. |

Phil That ring of numbers is just the conversion to hours, it is really not necessary but to help in the total minutes to hours conversion. It resides on the same ring/scale as the innermost ring of the circular slide rule. For instance, you'll see the designation 1:30 directly across from the 9 (both are on the black scale of cosmonaute), where the 9 may be interpreted as 90 min. (equal to 1 hour, 30 min. = 1:30). It doesn't need to be there (and isn't on the Navitimer models), but can help when the computation involves large numbers of mins. (ex. 450 min. falls halfway between the 7:00 and 8:00 for 7.5 hours). |
