Good Afternoon.

Breitling Super Avenger, 8yrs old.
Everything works perfect, except the Auto-Wind.

That stopped about 2-weeks ago.
Hand wind, it runs about 2-days.
Leaving it in a watch winder has no effect,

I am just a Hobbyist, nothing more.
I’ve started with simple mods, and moved to making my own dials, watch-cases, etc.
Movements, I’ve done plenty of 2824’s and clones.
But his is my first Chrono.

My co-worker got the watch from his wife, when they were dating.
He begged me, every day, for 2-weeks, to look at it.
He’s been in my work-shop and seen how involved, my hobby is.

I urged him 1000 times over, to send it to Breitling or I could find a good shop in NYC for him.
That I was not comfortable with even looking at it, for him.
That from all the home-work I did, that the 7750, is a great movement, but VERY UN-FRIENDLY to work on.

They don’t have the money; he is still rebuilding his house from Hurricane Sandy.
They spent 2-months at the time, in a hotel.

While I have it, I will clean it, buff it, change all the O-rings and gaskets.
That’s the easy stuff, but I am looking for advice on the auto-winding issue.

I do not want to remove the movement, until the Auto-Wind is resolved.
I am interested in repairing the auto-winding only.

I read that as SOP, some of these gears are changed out at service.
Also that this issue has been resolved in the newer movements.

I couldn’t find a cheap case opener for the odd layout at 42.3mm.
So I wrote a program and CNC-Milled one, @ 42.0mm, out of some scrap, which works nice.

The Rotor was tight, bearings were good, I removed the bridge for the automatic winding system, I could find nothing to indicate a problem.

So I re-assembled and stuck it on a winder, still no automatic winding.
I’m getting ready to take the bridge out again, and go deeper.

Any recommendations, suggestions, would be appreciated.

Thanks
Tim
