Post subject:  Breitling B2 Frequent Overhaul

Hello All:

I purchased a B2 in late 1999, early 2000. Since purchase my B2 has required an overhaul every three to four years. Just two weeks ago, I took the my Breitling back to a reputable dealer in my local area, and once again I am being told a complete overhaul is required. The typical cost for one of these overhauls is between $650.00 to $800.00 USD.

While I love this watch, I am a bit concerned by the total cost of ownership over the last thirteen years. I was wondering if this seems normal to other B2 owners, or is it time to investigate having another Breitling dealer to have a look at the watch?

Thanks

5 - 7 years is more normal. What is driving the need for service every 3 - 4 years - power reserve, time keeping, other? Also, what kind of conditions are you using the watch in as that may impact it.

Thanks fro the reply!

I wear the watch daily, and to be honest it almost never comes off my wrist.

Usually when it fails there is a problem in the movement. Typically the watch has completely malfunctioned which prompts me to take it in for service. I have never had a case where it was partially working, it always has stopped completely. In the most recent case, they claim I am going to have to have the hands replaced.

Thanks

Hands are service replacement parts so that's to be expected. Without knowing what's wrong it's difficult to comment more.

Hello:

In all cases they typically do not say much more than the watch requires overhaul. This particular time, they did tell me the hands were broken, but overhaul was still required. I guess I am just a bit shocked by the frequency of overhaul with this watch. Of course, I really don't have anything else to compare it too.

Thanks

Ask them what the issues have been on previous occasions. If there is something consistent that is causing the watch to stop then they should look more - tell them that you are concerned that the watch consistently requires service more frequently than the average service window.
