I have had my Navitimer Heritage for at least ten years now without an issue. It is in light rotation with my other watches and is always kept on a winder when not being worn. Recently it stopped. I gave it a full wind, and it appeared to re-start, but then stopped again after a few minutes. It will also re-start at that point, if I give it a few shakes, but again it stops after a few minutes. If I am wearing the watch and have continuous movement, it will continue to run, but if I am fairly stationary, it will stop after a few minutes as well. Here's the bizarre part, if I activate the chronograph (after a wind), the watch will run fine for the full duration of the wind/power reserve (42hrs?). Any ideas as to what the issue is? Thanks! |

Yep, it needs a service. The lubrication in the running train is now insufficient and the friction is greater than the power from the worn out mainspring. The action of the tilting pinion when the chronograph is activated is helping for now, but that won't last. If it's ten years old then it's way past the service window and has been running with no oils for at least 3 years, so get it serviced as soon as possible before more damage is done and you'll have it back like new. |

Thanks. Will do. Do you think the maintenance service will suffice, or would it need the full overhaul? |

You are looking at a full overhaul at that age. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2 |
