Post subject: | Reoccurring Issues with Slide Rule & Chronograph |
My Montbrillant 01 has two reoccurring issues: 1) the slide rule becomes very stiff after I go on airplanes. 2) the 12-hour totalizer moves too fast. For example, when the chronograph has only been running for 2 hours, the 12-hour totalizer shows it has been running for 6 hours. From my tests it averages about 6 hours fast. I have had these two issues looked at by the Authorized Service Center in Taipei, Taiwan. The first problem reoccurs after I go on airplanes and the second problem was fixed last time, but after wearing the watch for about a month, the 12-hour totalizer returns to being too fast again. Any advice? I have to travel often so do not want to not wear my Brietling whenever I go on airplanes... and after spending so much for a watch, I want to have the functions work as they should. |

The second issue makes absolutely no sense. The chronograph engages with the running train and (assuming that the gearing is correct) has to advance at the same rate. There must be some kind of slippage going on there but it sure as heck isn't going to fix itself - definitely needs service attention. In terms of the bezel, it is friction fit so pressure changes may have some effect but can't say that I have ever noticed any differences on Navis after a flight so it may be an issue with the bezel or crystal not being seated properly. There can be a tendency to get crud and arm cheese under the bezel and a clean with dental floss can help, but that's more of a general problem than an occasional one related to specific circumstances. |

Thanks for the advice. I have a feeling the Authorized Service Center in Taipei, Taiwan isn't really up to scratch. There is only one watchmaker so if he can't figure out a permanent fix to my two issues, there is no other Authorized Service Center in the rest of the country. The Authorized Service Center has already addressed my two issues about three months ago. I plan on bring my watch back today. Hopefully, I'll get a more permanent result this time. |

I have had five Breitling watches serviced by the watchmaker you are referring to and all five came back perfect. Granted, they were not cal 01 powered models. He is 01 certified so I hope your problem will be addressed soon. |
