Is there a possibility that the crown seals were bad on a 5 year old watch?

Absolutely - especially with regular swimming. The new 5 year warranty on in house pieces is conditional on regular water resistance testing for a very good reason!!

The watch is out of warranty but I'm convinced that they didn't take the proper precautions when replacing the battery and that's how water got in. What I don't like is that Tournaeu will assess the watch first. So I'm sure they'll say it wasn't properly maintained by the owner. How much maintenance do you do on an Aerospace? I understand an automatic watch hum. What's your feeing about this?

I think the only thing you can do is see what they say, and if you are unhappy with the assessment and the explanation, then you might get a second opinion elsewhere. Of course, that all takes time and is inconvenient and may not get to the real problem. You will have to take them on trust that they are as assured of the assessment as they can be. Self assessment is always an issue, but that’s the most convenient way. Just speak up if you think you are being brow beaten. I am sure that won't happen, but none the less, say what you think when it comes to your turn to say how you feel.

You can see how difficult this might become for you and them. Which is why I don’t get that they would not pressure test for free when changing the battery over. You have the problem with your watch, but they now share that problem, as they don’t do what is obvious to protect you and them.

I am sure if they had said we need a few extra minutes to run a test, you would not have objected and would have spent the time gladly looking over the watch offerings (while you wait). Every opportunity to keep you in their store a little longer is a potential sale. Well, that’s how I see it.

I really appreciate all the input you have given me in this forum, there is not going to be an easy resolution to this dilemma so I'll keep you informed.I wonder if I should contact Breitling about the issue?

Well, I am never one to stop at the shop front Counterline if I have not received good service. On the few occasions I have had to do this, it’s been very effective.

If you don't deny them the opportunity to put their point of view first, then I think you have that right to discuss the matter at a higher level if you still feel there is something missing. Its your watch and your money, not theirs. So its in your best interest and piece of mind to get satisfaction,

it's important to notice that the website says that they water pressure the watch when they change the batteries. If that's the case then they should have told me of there was a problem with the seals or not.

It's going to take almost eight weeks to get repaired. That's a long time. Is it always like that?

That sounds pretty normal.

Does that also happen when you send watches for maintenance too, I want to send my Skyland Avenger for maintenance but don't know how long they will take.

Would they polish and get rid of scratches if the watch is being repaired? The repair order says a complete service,
