Post subject: | Please Help: Received used Navitimer but spotted errors |
Hi there, I am hoping that anyone can provide some opinion on my dilemma here. I bought a used Navitimer World through a different forum and today received the watch. Immediately after inspecting, I realized the following errors: 1. One marker missing at second coutner at 9 clock position 2. Smutches inside the housing at the second counter (hard to capture in pictures) 3. The "4" of the 40 second marker is off (at least compared to the models I checked with) I hope that anyone can provide me with some insight whether this is a true problem, or perhaps the watch was opened and something went wrong. Are those errors fixable through BUSA? I have purchased quite a few used watches over the years and never had any problem - Boy am I immensely disappointed right now as the seller assured me that the watch is in mint condition. Thank you for any help. |

I don't know anything about Navis so can't answer the questions directly - sorry - but if you're disappointed because the watch is simply not as described why not contact the seller for a return? |

Obviously the watch has been worked on, and likely not by a Breitling authorised service centre, so while it can be fixed, who knows what non visible damage needs addressing. If it were me I would be trying to get my money back. |

Thank you for the feedback. My choice is to return the watch but so far the seller is unresponsive. I am quite concerned about what else has been done to that watch as it obviously was opened. The seller must have seen that error as it is easily visible. If the seller does not accept a return, would BUSA even touch the watch for repair, and if so what's the cost for such repair? What is the movement had been switched out - how will BUSA react to that? |

If the movement has been swapped (which is unlikely) then Breitling will refuse to touch it and claim (quite rightly) that it is not a Breitling. |

What is the movement had been switched out - how will BUSA react to that? It is obvious that the watch has been 'fiddle with' but as to what extend is only conjecture until it’s opened for inspection. In the meantime, I think you need to take it calmly and not let things get to you. It may have been a hand replacement gone wrong, or something of that nature. Might not have had the movement completely out, but who would really know until it’s looked over. The circumstances under which you bought this watch can be explained to your AD or BUSA, as it would be like other watches they see from time to time. They would probably know this situation well. You want it fixed and you are prepared to pay for that service. If they say no to any repairs, then all I can say is they have a very strange way of showing you some admiration for buying one of their watches. You have not done anything wrong and I am sure there will be a sensible way of getting this righted. As for the person who sold this watch to you, if they’re not playing ball, then you are not likely to provide positive feedback over the sale. In fact, you are probably going to say a few things to the forum sponsors about that member. That’s a start. One last thing if you can’t return it. If you got the watch at a really good price, then going through the repairs trauma may still yield a decent watch at a reasonable price. The only difference here is that you are caught with not knowing the extent of damage before you bought, and being able to make the cost assessment without risk. In essence, its still a good watch. |

Thank you all for your input and suggestions - very much appreciated as always!! Now, after a lot back and forth the seller agreed to take back the watch. While this is the right thing to do and I'm happy about that outcome, it still leaves a pretty bitter taste (not to mention out of pocket expenses for shipping, etc). Huge lesson learned for me: 1. Be extra skeptical about sellers without any feedback anywhere. 2. Always ask for detailed pictures of all details. 3. Keep the urge under control and finish the due diligence. Again, thank you guys!! Now..... Back to hunting a nice Navitimer World ![]() |

Well TW, that’s the best outcome you could hope for, OPE aside. Chalk that up to experience as its cheap. Your reflections are spot on and so are your observations on the actual watch. If you can get better. more pics of a potential buy, then that’s all the better. Heres a conundrum for you though. If you wanted a pic of the movement, the seller would have to remove the case back. Would anyone here be happy with this? ![]() |

Funny enough original seller has the watch now listed on eBay. I hope that the next buyer will not be as disappointed as I was. Since the watch appears to be genuine but just flawed I'm not sure if that provides sufficient grounds for flagging? |
