Post subject:  Colt 2 automatic help

I just bought my first automatic watch, pre owned. its a silver dial Colt 2 automatic 2008. Fyi, I have owned a Colt quartz for 15 years.

re the colt 2 automatic, I need help in setup. I understand 1st position is wind, 2nd is date clockwise, 3d is time. But when setting time how do you set both hour and minute hands? Is one clockwise other counterlockwise? Please advise how to set both. Id like to get a copy of a manual....please let me know if available.

Also, I would appreciate recommendations for a reasonably priced watchwinder for this model.

Lastly, I have a silver dial. I know this model also comes in black and blue dial. Has anyone seen a white or off white/ ivory dial? If so, where could I get one?

Thank you in advance for all suggestions!

Welcome aboard.
In third position you can move hands in both directions, but don't move them backwards between 10pm and 2am.
It can damage the watch. Also, don't change date in position 2, between 10pm and 2am. If you need to do it, do it in position 3, moving hands only forward.
There's only one silver/white in this model and you have it.

In position 3 both hands should move at the same time, and as bnewbie says you can wind in either direction, but forwards is safer, and backwards in the 'danger zone' around midnight is an absolute no-no.

If you are wearing the watch all the time you won't need a winder, and you can always wind via the crown. If you want to read about winders there are a lot of discussions in the accessory section. If you don't know the history of the watch a service is also something to consider.

Hi again

Thanks for the responses. My watch was set at purchase and running fine since purchase. What I am having a problem conceptualizing is how in position 3 one sets both hour and minute hands independently if that same position controls both. In other words lets say I need to reset both. I go to position 3, start turning, which hand moves 1st, hour or minute, and how once one is set, do I switch over to set whichever hand doesn't move 1st??? I'm a novice...

Please explain.

I looked at a video on you tube. I see how to do this now.
