Hi,

I have recently bought a Galactic 41. Unfortunately, I don't feel safe wearing my new watch in the country I currently reside in (I will move in a few months) and, as a result, it ends up resting in a safe for the most part.

I have two questions: Is it ok to leave my watch stopped for extended periods of time? In addition, can someone confirm this for me please:

"Q:My watch is equipped with a self-winding movement, but I have the habit of winding my watch manually. Will this impact my watch?
A:
Frequent manual winding is not suitable for a self-winding watch. Manual winding means completing an accelerated winding operation that may last for one day under the automatic winding mode; this can cause the self-winding system to run at high speed, resulting in the accelerated wear and a shortened life of the watch"

Thank you very much in advance!

No idea where the Q & A came from, but it's rubbish.

Manually winding an automatic watch will not do any harm. There is a slip clutch that prevents overwinding so it really isn't an issue.

If you aren't going to wear the watch for an extended period then if possible give the watch a full wind (40 turns) once a month to help prevent the oil from migrating from where it is needed and you will be fine.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Interestingly enough, straight from the horses mouth :-)
A Maintenance Tips Q&A on their fly-breitling members website.
Don't believe it either.
