Post subject: | 2 questions about Navitimer World |
I ordered my first Breitling, a navitimer world, on ebay complete with box, papers, and an expired tourneau warranty booklet. I'm a student at Binghamton University with no local Breitling AD's, so I had it shipped to my house and had my dad take it to Tourneau to have it authenticated. They said it's authentic, so my dad sent it to me. The watch looks immaculate, but I have two problems (which may turn out to be me showcasing my status as a new and uninformed owner). Here are my questions: 1)why does the crystal have edge distortion? I wouldn't expect an expensive watch to have that 2)when I move the watch VERY slowly up to my hear, or just move it a little bit in a silent room, I can hear the rotor disk in the movement making a rotation; it's quite noticeable. Is the rotor disk normally this loud and noticeable on a Navitimer World? |

I have 2 worlds not sure what you mean about question 1, about the rotor turning I always can hear mine pretty good if I put it near my ear, that goes with all my automatics, try to post a picture of the crystal edge your talking about. |

It's a domed crystal, looks perfectly normal to me, although nothing is in focus in that video. The movement is an ETA base and is going to be inherently noisier than an in house Rolex movement. |

But either way, all normal. |

I don’t have issue 1 on my Navi World. Issue 2 only slightly on mine. Not audible unless you are listening for it. There are many watch movements that can be heard winding. It’s normal for some movements, so I would not worry about this. Glass is perfect at the edges though. Your glass sounds a little concerning but it depends on where you are looking. Across the face at 45 degrees and perhaps a slight hint of distortion, but not looking down on it to the edge scale, etc. In the meantime, enjoy your new Breitling. They are a remarable bit of Kit. |

Be grateful it isn't an IWC 7750 variant. Theirs are so loud it is annoying. Hearing the rotor is perfectly normal on the many watches that use the 7750 base, whether a $1000 watch or a $10,000 one. As is some distortion on a domed crystal, assuming you are referring to looking at the dial at an oblique angle. Edit - or "yeah that" to Driver8's post. Oops Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

[quote]I ordered my first Breitling[quote] Its your first Breitling, so I would be as concerned as you are at the moment. Its all OK though as its all pretty normal, so don't worry too much about it. |
