Hello,

my local watch shop strongly advised me to always let the chrono function run at all times as it apparently ensures that all moving parts are constantly in motion.

I am wondering if that is actually good advice or not.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

I think that you mean chronograph rather than chronometer, and it is not necessary to run it all the time. Best practice is to run the chronograph for about 24 hours per month to avoid the oils from migrating from where they are needed - that's all that you need to do.

Thank you Roffensian for the feedback and for the correction regarding the chronograph :-)

I follow the method that Roffensian described with all mine. I never had an issue. Once a month for 24 hours approximately it's enough to keep the insides of the movement happy :D

I just use mine regularly, but wouldn't let it run permanently. :-)

i also run it regularly (when needed at work, or the occasional 24h, for the sake of having it moving) and have never had any problem (navitimer world)...
