Hi... Newbie reporting in from South Wales (that's Old South Wales , not the new fangled Oz version...) Always had an interest in watches since getting my first 'Boy's Timex' almost fifty years ago, and I've built up a small collection of nice, but not necessarily expensive watches. Finances being what they are (and believe me when I say that kids are expensive critters!!!) I have taken until now to buy my first Breitling - very much the budget end of the scale I'm afraid, but it's all mine, it's all paid for and it's a real one! My question is (and I'm sure you've heard this one before, but I did a search and couldn't find the answer... ) quite simply is there any way of dating the watch from the model/serial number? Unfortunately the watch came without boxes or papers so there's no help there. Is there some sort of reference akin to Seiko's excellent spreadsheet of serial numbers and dates? It's actually a Colt quartz 300M Blue dial fitted with a Professional bracelet. The back of the watch is engraved with A57035 27400 Pleased to hear if you can offer any help Rob |

Welcome to BreitlingSource. Post 1978 you can't date from serial numbers, however, depending on when your specific piece was produced you may be able to date it as described here - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_dating.shtml If there is no date stamp then it will be earlier - 95 - 98 range. |

Thanks, Roff. Unfortunately there's nothing between the lugs (I had a Rolex and a Glycine that used this method, also) and I can't see anything on the beacelet. I rather think it's quite old and are quite happy to accept it's approx early 90's vintage. Is there any reference available to show when this particular model started and went out of production? Model was produced 95 - 01 - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... e_106.html As I said, without the date it will be in the earlier part of that window. |

If it is A57035, it should be earlier than '98/'99, not just because non COSC movement. |
