Hi
Quick question about Breitling and serial numbers? Do all Breitling watches have serial numbers engraved on them? My friend has a Breitling Superocean with no serial number on the back but he is 100% sure that the watch is genuine as he bought from an AD and has all the paperwork. What is the downside of having a Breitling watch with no serial and why does it not have a serial?

All Breitlings have serials when they leave the factory. A few years ago it was fairly common for grey market dealers to remove the serial number to try and protect the AD that supplied the grey market seller. However, that's not generally been done for the last 4 or 5 years for the simple reason that Breitling will refuse to service the watch if it doesn't have a serial number.

Thanks for your quick reply Roff.

What if you have all the paperwork, is there a way of getting Breitling to print the serial back on?

Not that I am aware of. You may be able to get servicing with the original warranty as that likely suggests that it isn't grey market, but otherwise Breitling won't touch it.

After some careful inspection we have found the serial on the back. It is very small and very faint but it's there which is good and has put my friends mind to rest.

I'm sure he can get Breitling to redo the serial on the back.....

p.s if you have had the same problem I suggest you put the watch under light and use a magnifying glass.

So...i have the same problem and...far as I can tell the serial says "2482813" after spending hours under a magnifying glass and a bright lamp - however the only number close to that I am able to register/verify on breitling.com/myaccount is 2482313, (it's scratched up pretty bad in the back, microscratches so what I read as a second 8 could well be another 3 with some unfortunately placed microscratches). 813 says "no watch found"...should I take this to an AD? I did just buy it from Crown&Calibre and i doubt they sell fakes or anything. Alternatively, have any of you tried the myaccount thing with old watch serials, does it always work 100%?
