Post subject:  Yesterday was a terrible terrible day

I was helping a buddy move yesterday. I was wearing my steelfish at the time. We were trying to maneuver a 5 ton dresser out his front door and then I heard what no watch nut wants to hear...the sand paper sound of my watch face scraping the brick siding.

As soon as I got home I popped the bezel off and polished the minor scratches out of the 12/3/6/9 tabs and they look great.

The problem...there are two light scratches on the crystal. The crystal itself is fine but the AR was scratched off. You can only see it from certain angles but with my OCD, it is driving me nuts.

Has anyone sent a watch back to Breitling to fix this? Will they recoat it or am I best off just getting a new crystal? Time and price estimate?

I've got a delimma, I can either send it off and live without my watch for a while or stop being a freak (it really is barely noticeable) and just wear it.

Suggestions?

:( sorry to hear that.

I'm a bit OCD as well and it would drive me nuts for sure.

Solution is to buy another Ling and wear that until the Fish gets back.

Ooooo I can just imagine the noise! :tmi:

OCD for me too I'm afraid. Get that AR sorted! I'm pretty sure Breitling will replace the crystal rather than re-coat the existing one. Dunno about price, but time is probably the standard 5 weeks.

Oh boy... all of you guys have a problem! :tard:

My suggestion; spend the money on counseling rather than a new crystal, and wear a G-shock next time you work...

Just sent my Chronomat for a overhaul and Breitling U.K. quoted about £100 for a replacement crystal. YES, one hundred pounds !!!!!!!!!. Thats a one and two zeros :o Might be cheaper across the pond, most things are.
