Was going to deliver my emergency for a new battery. When i did it 3 years ago i payed about 500 euro for it. This time the dealer sayed it would cost me around 1200 euros because they also have to change somthing in the clock it self.
Do anyone no what this is/ heard of this ??

It's quite conceivable that something other than just the battery needs replacing after a number of years (and I'm guessing you've had the watch a number of years if you've already been through a battery change before). All watches need parts from time to time, and the Emergency is no different. You can always ask Breitling for a breakdown of the costs if you are concerned about what they're doing.

500 Euros (689 US dollars to change a battery !!) I realize they probably put a drop of oil here and there but how can you justify that cost unless it comes with a complete polish of the case, etc. Can't you just take it to a local watchmaker for a battery change or is there something special that has to be done given that it is an emergency?

It has to be sent to Europe because Dassault has to service the transmitter - this is not the kind of watch that you want the corner watchmaker to open up and stick a battery in

thanks for help and answers..

I live in Norway and had the watch for 7 years. The reason for why im asking here is that the Breitling dealer told me that the reason for for the 1200 euros is that it had to go thru som kind of uppgrade?? I have not delivered it yet, and thought maybe someone had heared about this uppgrade for the emergency??

Thanks...

Hello scholes-71,

The service for the Emergency watch has to be done each 2 years for the watch Battery itself and also to maintain "up-to-date" the Emergency Beacon provided by Dassault France.
The regular service is about 340 Euros in France for Example.

Here is the link for the maintenance peice in Norway: http://www.breitling.com/multimedia/pdf/sav/sav-807.pdf

What is the model of your Emergency please ? When did you done the last maintenance on it?

For example, during my 2 years last service, they proposed to me for 1200€ to get it "upgraded" with a "SuperQuartz movment" inside, I refused it.
So I paid for the regular service, that's all, 340€.
And I am still waiting for the New Emergency watch :lingsrock:

If it's a e56321, j56321 (gold one), e56021, e56121.1, you can do a service only for 340€.
For Emergency watches, service is due each 2 years for the beacon, but for the watch itself it can wait from 3 to 4 years (End Of Life blattery system on the dislpay).

Now you try an upgrade to a superquartz model (e76321, j76321, e76021), keep in mid that perhaps a new Emergency watch will be available soon.

Last question, do you use it as a "pleasure watch" or in order to save your life? (like an aircraft pilot, private or public transport)

Hello,

2 weeks from your last post, did you accept the changing from a quartz to a superquartz model?
In the new 2012 catalogue, the Emergency line is over (Emergency and Emergency mission last year).
Perhaps we will get a new Emergency watch in a near future? (I hope)

Please keep us informed :lingsrock:

I sent my E56121.1 away during Sept for a full service and got it back at the start of this month, didnt even get offered any sort of upgrade?

My dealer told me that there would be no new line of Emergency watches due to the costs of components for the transmitter now being uneconomical to produce. Metals prices and especially rare earth minerals have increased significantly over the last few years....

If its true in that case then surely it will help keep the prices of the Emergency reasonably good over the coming years, not that I really care as I bought it to wear and potentially save my life one day!

Regards

Des

Thats what I'd thought but my dealer told me he'd been told it had been dropped due to cost !??!

Has there been any official news from Breitling on it recently ? I've not been following that closely....

Not since they announced that it was coming, but wouldn't expect anything this early.

just had mine serviced and they replaced a resister, 2007 Mission, but no extra charge, this could be part of the upgrade, i think older watches had a circuit board upgrade as well, FOC.
