I bought a new SA about two months ago and have been keeping a log of the accuracy. My last measurement was over 28 days and it gained an average of 7.4 seconds per day. Should this be returned for calibration as it appears it outside the COSC accuracy?

It's obviously not awful, but yes, you should take it to your AD. It should be a simple regulation that they can do in a few minutes.

I think most ADs would say "give it some time to settle and adjust" - but as you already have done your fair share of monitoring/logging you should be able to claim a direct adjustment. Good luck!

That's exactly what they said when I called them. I guess I will wait a couple more months before sending it back.

It's a fair comment, but that should only take 4 - 6 weeks.

My Seawolf lost a similar amount for the first year. I set it in to BUSA and they did a free Basic Service, still lost time. Sent it back and they did a complete service for free and it has worked flawless ever since. Make sure you are clear that it is gaining time and how much. Also make sure you tell BUSA your wearing pattern, for example if you sleep with it as I do. These things can help the tech calibrate. You can actually call BUSA and talk to a watch tech and they will tell you to send it in. I have seen posts of people talking about AD adjustments but I would only feel comfortable to have my watch service at the source, BUSA. They could rebuild your watch or do a complete service free, like they did for me. I think my watch sat in my AD too long.

Here is a link to the complete service that BUSA sent me:

SO COOL!

I had about a 2 week turnaround from the day I sent it in. All services have been extremely quick in my opinion.

to be even quicker - I would have my AD regulate it to see if that solves the problem - 10 minutes or so.

In my opinion, just because someone is an AD doesn't mean they have the same expertise in fixing or adjusting Breitlings as BUSA techs do. It's like service for cars, sure the dealer is authorized to service your Porsche, but if you had the option to send it in to Porsche wouldn't you? It depends on how good you AD is. Using the car analogy again, I worked for a Porsche dealer and some of the techs that we had working on the cars were not great on quality control. Also BUSA is gonna have the ability to replace whatever free of charge (under warranty) and has the ability to do much more that a AD. Also you have a paper trail as I did if future problems arise. Again BUSA first did a free basic service and then a free complete service.

Just my opinion though.

Make a copy of your receipt and warranty card to send in with the watch.

Type up a brief description of the problem you are having. It is helpful in the case of automatics to inform the tech of your wearing habits. I.E. if you take off at night or leave on as I do. I would include this info in the letter.

Send Directly to:

Breitling USA
Hangar 7
206 Danbury Road
Wilton CT 06897

TEL: 203-762-1180

That's about it.

I would obviously use a trackable service such as UPS or FEDEX.

I use UPS and for items over a certain value you actually have to drop of and get a signature from UPS facility for insurance to be valid.

Call once it is received at BUSA and within that day they usually diagnose and tell you what the prognosis is. Also when you call you will find out who you regional service rep is. Breitling assigns customer service reps to the various parts of the country. They have one for the northeast, etc., they will ask where you are calling from when you call them to inquire about your watch.

I know when I spoke to a tech at BUSA when my Seawolf was losing time he said that since I was wearing it 24/7 it should never lose time and in-fact it should be gaining time from the factory setting given my wearing habits. I think the factory setting allows for a certain amount of time off the wrist. I wonder if you are wearing yours all the time like me? If so it can be adjusted to accommodate.
