I received one of these watches as a gift last Wednesday. I love the watch, but am concerned about a few items.

1. The watch loses 10 minutes a day
2. I cannot get the date to change

I am going into the certified dealer tomorrow for a band fitting and warranty registration. Should I request a different watch or let them repair the item?

I appreciate any advice

Mike

even it was a recent purchase from an AD, I would definitely look to have it replaced, looks like a major issue.

Maor issues indeed. No good reason why a watch should lose 10 minutes a day, and it won't be a simple fix - that's more than regulation and suggests a major issue with the escapement.

The date change may be a simpler fix, but clearly still not acceptable. Tough to imagine how the two issues are related as well so this watch has something badly wrong.

I went to the dealer and they were very helpful and considerate. They had the following to say.

1. technician will bench the watch to verify that the mechanical mechanisms are functioning to specifications
2. Upon first review of the watch, suggested that there may be a malfunction with the central pull out knob, leading to the watch not winding correctly and the date not changing. The hand change movement appeared to be "stiff."
3. They said if it was a major repair, they would replace the watch
4. They did not register the warranty. They will do this only if the watch is in acceptable condition upon return

Seemed all very sensible. They did say that it was unacceptable for a new watch of this caliber to have any problems, let alone a major time keeping issue.

I appreciate your inputs.

Glad to see that it is being attended to as it should be.
How did such a major issue escape Breitling's strict QC processes?
