Could someone please tell me if the crown on my Skyland should turn so easily! I checked it this morning, turned it clockwise and it seemed very loose! Is this normal or should I keep turning it until it tightens? I remember when I first set the watch i'm sure it turned until I could feel it tighten maybe this is normal not to sure tho!

Cheers

Andrew

As it winds down it will be easier to wind. If you see what I mean.

When you 1st wind it up and do the 40 turns whatever it will start to tighten up a bit when fully wound.

If you don't wear it quite enough to keep it fully charged it will still keep going for longer than the reserve but will slowly wind down and need a wind every few days to keep it fully charged.

My Monty is the same - just give it 1/2 a dozen turns every other day.

Hope that helps :)

I'm looking into a winder to help prevent mine winding right down.

Thanks for the info BB! I've been thinking about a winder too but reading thro the forum there seems to be 2 different opinions on whether or not winders are good for the watch or not so I'm just going to leave it at the moment I think, spend the money on an Ocean Racer and deployant buckle. :D

Yeah - I've been reading both sides of the debate today too. Still not sure tho' so may just end up with a display case.

BTW I was in my nearest AD earlier looking at the SA and a SOH46 with the Ocean Racer. That is one lovely strap - a great looking piece of kit and very clever too.

My wife arrived and dragged me away - just as well - but I think I'll get whichever of these comes along first at the right price. Maybe a couple of months away tho' :D

Ive noticed the skylands crown seems to be a bit looser than any of my previously 2824 based B's. I just figure its either the bigger crown that makes it turn more easily, or just that the 7750 winds with less resistance.

I always put it down to the larger / grippier crown compared with say a Windrider type screw in crown.

Its very possible. My old steelfish was always a bit of a pain to turn and screw in/out. Not much grip on that crown at all.

Hey BB, my Ocean Racer strap arrives today, couldn't resist! I got the tool to take of the strap off so i'm ready to go for it tonight, can't wait. I'll get some pics up thro the week if all goes well. So that will be the end to my first Ling buy, I'll have to start drooling over another one but It will have to wait another year I think, i've decided I can't really justify another one at the moment but I'm sure the Skyland and the ability to swap the straps will stand me in goo stead for a while! :D

Great Andrew - I'm glad you've enjoyed the whole experience and it all worked out OK.

How much (% wise) do you reckon you saved the way you did it?

I'm watching an SA on eBay at the moment but am about a week short of having the cash available to bid - sods law! Maybe it won't sell and will get relisted - that would give me the time to get the dosh together. Why is there no emoticon for biting nails?

Look forward to the pics - careful with that strap!

Well I paid £2050 including P&P and Customs Tax from the US, my closest AD in Aberdeen offered me £2450 but I would have had to go to Aberdeen to pay for it and collect it myself, christ knows why but that put an end to that! I think the RRP for the Skyland is around £2800 if I remember correctly so I've saved quite a bit! :D I also got a quote from an AD in Canada but they were around about £2200!

Definently seems to be the way to go. Dubai seems to be cheap aswell but you would still get charged the customs tax coming into the country and I don't know if they would ship internationally but certainly the US seems to be the cheapest on the go at the moment!
