Interesting - the services section of the Breitling website suggests that even for the Maintenance Service, "For quartz models, specialists change the battery and check and set the movement with a special Breitling tool. All watches have the case and metal bracelet cleaned, the seals changed and the waterproofing checked." and the video shows the watch being dismantled and popped in the cleaning bath.
The Complete Overhaul appears to be similar for the quartz models plus polishing/refinishing the case and this is the one they suggest every 4-6 years.
To my mind, if the Maintenance Service is what Breitling do whenever they do a battery change, then it's probably worth sending it off to them to do.
I'd expect a battery change in a dealer to be more along the lines of take the back off, pop out the old battery, pop in a new one and put the back back on followed by telling the customer that the waterproofness of the watch would no longer be guaranteed. Or am I doing watch shops a disservice?
