Post subject:  Question about breitling "open warranty card"

Hi Guys,

I bought a Breitling Bentley Motors from the original owner that had purchased it from his AD. The warranty card is punched with usa and the stores name (on the right hand side of the open booklet)

It is not however, dated. Is this what they consider an open warranty card? What advantages, if any does this offer?

Can it be dated when I need a service and have the service done gratis since it's a freshly dated warranty?

Would I need to bring it to that AD for dating? Or any AD?

Please offer me some advice on your experience with this topic and how it tends to work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It is 'open'.

The theory is that an AD leaves the card open so that if there are issues just outside of the warranty period then you fill in a later purchase date and get warranty coverage.

However, Breitling are very aware that this practice goes on and for a little while BUSA tried to refuse warranty service on open warranties. They don't do that anymore, but they do look for other evidence of the original purchase, and of course Breitling have quite a few records of their own. The best thing to do is to try and find out when the watch was originally sold and rely on that date. If you need warranty coverage within two years from that date then you can complete the date yourself.

Thanks for the response!

Pretty certain it was 2006. So if I'm reading you right, that open warranty doesn't mean squat at this point?

Watch is running perfectly, but I thought I'd just understand what I've got on my hands.

If it was sold in 2006 then you are way out of warranty so it's not relevant.
