Hey all, Happy Holidays for those of you located here In the U.S.A.

It is 4th of July Weekend.

So I did not have my Breitling Chronomat Evolution on today or yesterday, I was working on some stuff around the house, didnt want to get cement on it, or scratch it.

So now I finally understand the beauty of no battery. My power reserve has been completely diminished, it stopped at 9:15 PM on the 9 Seconds.

So I opened up the manual , it reads as follows:

do not wind between 8pm and 3am, because of a mechanism that changes the dates.

This explains how to wind up the watch and adust the time and date.

1. It says to unscrew the water resistant crown in an anti clockwise direction, and then to wind it 40x in a clockwise direction. By turning the crown 40 times.

Then:

2. Pull the crown out to position two and turn hours forwards to adjust date which jumps at midnight.

3. Pull the crown out to position 3. Turn hands so as to make the calendar jump once when hands pass through midnight. Then adjust hour and minute

4. Push crown back to position 1 press it gently, turning it in a clockwise direction. Tighten till you feel some resistence, DO NOT FORCE!

So today is July 3, 20008, its 10PM.

According to the aforementioned information, it is unsafe to set the time, correct?

So I will wait till tommorow July 4th, 2008, and fix this problem.

However, I am puzzled, there is something confusing me.

If you loook at step two, it says to pull the crown out to position two, and turn the hours to adjust the date which happens or changes at midnite.

Then it says in step 3, to put the crown into position 3, and then turn the hands so the date changes as the hands pull through midnite.

Then it says in position 3 to adjust the time.

I am confused, why does it say to put it into 2 different positions to adjust the date and time?

Kind Regards,
Nick

I'm not sure what you are asking, but position 2 always adjusts the time and the date if you pass midnight. Position 3 is a quickset date. Do not use the quickset date when the watch reads between 8pm and 3am, rather adjust the time until it is outside of that interval, and then adjust your date.

I think you mean that the other way around admin - 2 for the quickset date, 3 for the time (and date).
