I keep seeing Cap Cod polishing cloths on ebay. Does anyone use anything like this? I've just been wiping off fingerprints with an Oakley sunglass cleaner. ![]() |

![]() There's quite a few threads on here that have waxed lyrical about the quality of Cape Cods. I recommend using the search function to throw up some of the threads. But in summary - yeah they are excellent!!! I use them, and quite a few of the guys who have been members on here a while use them too. BUT, as they are impregnated with metal polish they are very slightly abrasive, so use them reasonably sparingly - i.e. not daily! Yes they are very mild as far as metal polishes go, but just go easy with them. But in terms of removing minor scratches they are second to none. |

Perfect, thanks for the info. I've used the search feature a few times (like when I was looking for Chrono 49 info) but it hangs sometimes which is frustrating :p |

One other thing (and this may be REALLY obvious, so I apologise in advance) but if your watch has a brushed finish, DO NOT use the Cods on it! They will removed brushed finishes fairly well over time. (I can't remember if the Emergency Mission is all polished or brushed and polished....) |

Mario For daily cleaning you can't beat a Selvyt cloth. http://www.selvyt.com/ Available on eBay for about £6 large or £4 small. Also good for that final polish after Cape Cods and before taking pics to put them on here. |

OK, I just ordered some of the Cape Cods ($5.25 shipped, not bad at all). And I found a large 14"x14" selvyt cloth for $7.50 shipped on ebay so I guess I'm all set ![]() |

As above, My bracelet gets desk diving scratches quite often, a cape cod and an hour of time brings it up as good as new! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

In the mechanical chronograph maintenance video, Breitling uses a cotton wheel and what looks like a dremel sized hand held tool with a polishing attachment on it. http://www.breitling.com/service-chrono/ So what do you think if I indulged once in a while with something like: http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Tools/Pages/ToolDetail.aspx?pid=10.8V+Lithium-ion+Cordless and there's a bunch of polishing and cleaning stuff available for it: http://www.dremel.com/en-us/AttachmentsAndAccessories/Pages/CategoryProducts.aspx?catid=27&catname=Cleaning+%26+Polishing |

Mario I use a Dremel with the polishing compound for bad scratches - usually on a watch case/bracelet that's seen better days & without an enthusiast taking care of it. Works well but of course care's needed to avoid overpolishing. Great if you buy something 2nd hand and need to clean it up. |

Yeah, I've seen on Ebay a polishing wheel that can be used on dremels. Always been curious how well this works vs polishing clothes. |
